Precision, productiveness, continuity in the machining: these are the requisites of the vertical lathe mod. VBM15.20 of IMT Intermato S.p.A.
The multi-pallet VBM15.20 machine, in this case, is used for manufacturing components for the defence sector.
One solution specifically developed in order to have the maximum flexibility, is the double tools magazine: to the standard 120-positions one, we have placed another one for the heads-change system, special toolholders, etc.
This allows to increase the machine autonomy without having to refresh frequently the tools, also because the vertical lathe mod. VBM15.20 can execute not only turning operations but also milling and drilling ones, all the above mentioned on No.4 different pieces during shifts without any man-power.
The Ram and X-axis movements are hydrostatic, while the table with 1.500 mm diam, is equipped with a crossed conical rolls bearing system and with a 60 kW motor that is able to output a couple bigger than 16.500 Nm, with the possibility to contain roughs till 15 ton, with a dia. equal to 2.000 mm.
The double column vertical lathe mod. VBM15.20 is part of a very articulated series, that includes the diam. of the table from 1500 to 5500 mm and turning dia. from 2500 to 6700 mm. We speak about solutions that integrate flexibility and project-modularity , that offers several equipments without precluding the possibility to obtain special solutions (one or two vertical carriages, multi-toolhoders, magazines with automatic tool change and pallet system).
